Jupiter and Hobe Sound, FL
It seemed easy enough, drive down to Jupiter and catch the sunrise with the Jupiter Lighthouse. I have seen pics of the lighthouse and they are great! I looked online and thought I knew a few locations with a good view… wrong! Definitely something that needs to be scouted ahead of time. I spent most of my early arrival searching for a good location. I didn’t find one.
I managed to find a spot under the Route 1 bridge which allowed me to capture the first image. This is just prior to sunrise. Oh, and another thing… check your camera settings before you begin a new day! I had spent the previous night photographing the moon rise and left my ISO at 1600. Didn’t notice until an hour into my pics. Rookie mistake. 😦
The second image is from a pier into the river just beyond the bridge. I was able to setup between the bridge supports and capture the sun beyond the boats in the marina. This was not my intended image but I think I like this one the best from my excursion.
The rest of the morning was going to be spent exploring the various parks and locations I listed from images I had found online. Another thing that is easier said then done. The last image is the only keeper I managed to capture. My list of disappointments is fairly long…
- Blowing Rocks Preserve – parking area was closed
- Hobe Sound Wildlife Refuge – no attendant for fee and me without a pen to fill out the form
- Seashells on beach on Hutchinson Island (Captain Kimo Gallery) – couldn’t find
- Indian River Citrus Museum – not open on Monday… LOL, my luck
I guess this is a sign that I will have to return and try again. Not a bad thing when I stop and think about it. Like I need a reason to come back… 🙂
Even at 1600 look at those colors! I was out shooting the moon last night too…and I bet my ISO is also at 1600. I’m getting up out of this chair right now to check. 🙂
