The day started off rather cold, somewhere around 25F but as the day progressed the sun worked its magic and by mid-afternoon the temps were at 55F. Definitely time for a walk. I haven’t been out for a walk in quite some time (longer than I care to mention). The Sculpture Garden trails were calling me. As I approached the main parking area I found I was not alone in my desire to enjoy the afternoon warmth. Luckily for me I know where the second parking area is at the opposite end of the trails.
The photo opportunities were a little slim but I enjoyed the walk regardless. Surprisingly, most of the people were enjoying the disc golf course which left the trails fairly people free. I was surprised to find a few small dandelions in the grass along the paths. You know me, I couldn’t resist…

Something interesting happened yesterday. When I woke I found one of my images had been selected for Explore on flickr. This happens once in a while, either an algorithm or an individual selects an image to be highlighted in the Explore section on the flickr site. I’m not sure how the image is selected but when it happens it does draw extra attention. I won’t lie, it feels good when it happens, but it is not something I aim to achieve.
The interesting part for me is the image that was selected is from 2018. Which to me indicates an algorithm is at work when selecting for Explore. That’s OK. It doesn’t lessen the exposure of the image nor anyone’s enjoyment of it. What I like about it is based on the image selected, a dandelion! One of my “weed” images, ha! 🙂
The whole event did get me thinking about the image and that brought out the following…
Burdens of old thoughts Memories, links in the chain The past has a weight Today, this moment Realization emerges A future revealed Tomorrow shines bright New journeys free the spirit Stop your holding on

The walks around the building during lunch work wonders for me (although, I’m OK with a good power nap too). I get out of the cubicle and away from everything work related. The feel of the sun on my face powers me up for the rest of the day. I could try and say I’m getting exercise but I’m not really walking much, I’m exploring the grass/weeds/overgrowth at the edges of the parking lot.
I watch a few other friends as they are doing laps. They have a different purpose for their walk. Definitely out there for the exercise, passing me almost on a timed schedule. Good for them though! Too many other people are still in the office working through lunch. I want to yell at them, “Take a break!”, but they have to learn the lesson on their own.
My walk is slow, generally only once around, because I am exploring, searching for that over-looked subject to focus my lens. I find the things other walkers don’t see. I walk and I am attuned to the colors, the play of light and shadow. When I see it, I capture its image. This one said, “Find me”…
